Refugee students in Chad face uncertainty
Sudanese students who want to pursue education further than higher secondary schooling cannot undertake the procedures to enroll at Chad’s university, owing to their nationality. Stringent rules forbid them from entering Chadian universities and returning to Sudan might even mean facing arrest.
The situation has put them in a tight spot. Ahmed Yacoub Ismail, head of the Sudanese Association of Students in eastern Chad’s Bregin camp told Radio Dabanga, “We have knocked on the doors of various organizations including the UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees), Unicef and the government. But all our attempts have failed.”
He appealed to the concerned authorities to look into and resolve the plight of the students and the refugees.

‘Evacuate Dr Khalil Ibrahim’
Dr Ibrahim has been detained in Libya since nearly 10 months. The recent fall of the Gadhafi regime has given rise to speculation about his evacuation.
Duma appealed to the United Nations, the NATO, African Union and the Arab League to ensure the evacuation of Ibrahim from Libya to any place he would like to go.
“I would like to appeal to these agencies and individual countries to pursue his evacuation,” Duma told Radio Dabanga.
The lawyer also appealed to the Libyan rebels, who took over Gadhafi’s stronghold Tripoli last week, to offer good treatment to the Darfuris and Sudanese nationals taking refuge in Libya. “I would like to ask them to release those who are in prison to safe countries,” Duma said.
‘Grant amnesty to political prisoners’
On the other hand, Duma also appealed to the Sudanese government to release all the innocent Darfuris held in the states of Darfur, Khartoum and the rest of Sudan immediately.
He also appealed to the government to grant amnesty to the people of Darfur who are standing trial because of involvement in political issues.

Minni Minnawi, Ibrahim Ahmed join forces
A statement from the two movements said that the merger was a result of their collective belief in the importance of unity in the fight against the regime in Khartoum.
It also stressed that the unity will help in rebuilding Sudan again, now after the secession of the South from the North.
Dr. Al Rhaya Mahmoud, vice president of the SLA-MM told Radio Dabanga, “We seek to unite all the resistance movements in Sudan. The alliance of all the marginalized forces of Sudan can overthrow the Khartoum regime. The problem is not in Darfur but at the center in Khartoum.”
Various armed movements had expressed on Tuesday the need for an international investigation in South Kordofan and Darfur to establish the wrongdoings of the Sudanese regime.
