Iran invites Sudan’s Bashir to attend No-Aligned summit
May 5, 2012 (KHARTOUM) — President Omer Hassan al-Bashir received Saturday an invitation to attend the 16th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) which is expected to take place in Teheran next August.
Iranian Vice-President for International Affairs Ali Saeedlou handed the invitation letter to President Bashir from his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Saeedlou told the official SUNA that his visit also aims to follow up the joint ventures between the two countries in the areas of infrastructure and higher education before the opening of factories fruits and dairy products.
Iranian foreign ministry announced on Tuesday 1 May that the next meeting of the NAM states will be held at the end of next August without giving a precise date.
Iran would hold NAM’s presidency for the next three years, an opportunity for Teheran to decrease the impact of international sanctions imposed against the country as result of its nuclear policy.
