Man injured in random shooting at Hamidiya camp
A man at Hamidiya camp for displaced people has been injured in random shootings fired at the camp by pro-government militias.
Camp residents told Radio Dabanga that there are three police bases around 500 metres north of the camp, with random shots being fired towards the camp in the evenings.
Haroun Muhammed Abdul Aziz was injured in the attack.
Zalingei camps’ coordinator said the random firing has spread fear amongst the camps.
He also said the UN/African Union Mission in Darfur has been notified of the latest serious developments.
Nertiti asked to accept re-registration
The coordinator of Nertiti appealed to the camp residents to accept the re-registration programme required by the World Food Programme to distribute food rations.
The coordinator said the process is necessary for displaced people to receive assistance and is unrelated to the Doha document or voluntary return, which displaced people have been worrying about.
He also appealed to the WFP to extend the re-registration period for Nertiti camps and work to clarify the facts and address their concerns by raising more awareness.
