Security arrests 25 people in Gereida
On Saturday security authorities in Gereida arrested 25 people thought to be conspiring with the Revolutionary Front.
Sheikh Juma Deo of Camp Muhajiriya, Addigale Omer Eddin of camp Babanusa, Adam El Hajj of Camp Foreka, Abbaker Abu Krank of Camp Babanusa, Ahmed Franco of Camp Donkey Abyed, Fatima Baya of camp Um Asal, Khadija Kawal from Nasr neighbourhood, Saddam Ahmed Daoud from Majlis neighbourhood, Azahari from Birka neighbourhood, Abdul Aziz Kudbel of Zagrad and Ahmed Abdul Banat of Abdos were amongst the 25 known to be arrested.
Sources from Gereida told Radio Dabanga, commissioner Husham and the security service director went to Gereida on Friday night to address crowds at Abuja market, telling them to carry on their daily lives as normal.
They said an audience member shouted ‘Minni’s forces have arrived’ causing everyone to flee including the commissioner and security personnel who ran to the UN/African Union Mission in Darfur’s HQ.
On Saturday the commissioner and security decided to inspect all houses of ‘conspirators of the movement’, raiding homes in the camps and some neighbourhoods.
The witnesses said the raids were carried out by pro-government militia. They fear that the detainees may have been killed.
