WFP resume food distribution in S Darfur after a 10-month break
Shiekh Ali Abdel Rahman, chief of the Kalma camp in South Darfur, announced today the World Food Program (WFP) will resume food distribution on Tuesday. The announcement followed the completion of re-registration cards for IDPs, which were initially rejected by the displaced persons from Kalma camp.
Abdel Rahman, praises the WFP for resuming food distribution and confirmed the arrival of food rations in the camp. The rations include sugar, oil, bread and salt.
Approximately 2.000 IDPs could not re-register within the determined period, which ended on July 23. These people could not register because they spend long periods working outside the camp to support their families. The camp’s sheikh appeals to the WFP to let these people still register.
